Wow! What a event. Tis always good to be about the fort. Its atmosphere, its smells, sounds and activities. The weather was threatening the first day, as seems normal for the time of year. But the weather held out and it was spectacular. Some even got a little sunburned it was so sunny. There were some great talks and lectures from brewing in the colonies to plants and their uses both as sustinence and treatment. John Curry was the guest speaker, and it was a honor to meet him and hear him speak on the finer points of trekking and what we can get out of it, as well as how close we immulate the fore fathers and mothers of the frontier.
The second Annual COHT Trek Scenario went well. We had fourteen participants, first place going to our Alabama State Rep, Sonny Mitchell... congratulations Sonny. Sonny chose a membership to the Prickett's Fort as his prize as well as a donated item from the fort. Second place went to Joe Joplin... again, yes Joe took second place last year as well in our event. Joe won the membership to the COHT last year and this year won a renewal to his COHT membership as well as a donated prize from the fort. The trek went well as you can see from the pics above. We had lots of ambushing Indians and stations to test our frontier skill and knowledge. A good time was had by all. The last 1/2 mile of the trek, was a sole survivor scenario, you were on your own... and you found the stations or they found you.
Morgan's Glade performed for us after the camp feast. Oh! the food! It was great and there was plenty of it. The music as always was enlightening, and we have proof that Ed Robey does know how to dance. The lovely Rose managed to wear his mocs thin on the dance floor. Dianne and Doug had a grand time as well. The auction was held and helped raise some money to the restoration of the fort and the new visitors station... many thanks to those that contributed and those that bidden on the items. Thank you.
We had fourteen COHT members present, although it always works out that not all are present for the photo. But I thank them for traveling and contributing to the event and the fort... THANK YOU. It was good seeing you all, and catching up with you. I wish you well, and see you soon again about a camp fire.
