Mr. Ed Robey (COHT WV Rep) and myself Dave McGee (COHT OH Rep) and Ed's brother Eric Robey and Ed's dog Well, what's your definition of little? Here we see Ed taking point, keeping a watchful eye. Part of the trail runs the top of a large rock face. From wich this a fine view of the creek far below. can you see it? All along the trail are many rock facings and cliffs, out croppings. We spent some time exploring a few of them. Here is Ed Robey (WV COHT) and his pal Yet another of the many rock houses along the trail. Do you see what I see? Here is a closer look. A fine example of the use of shadows and colors for concealment. Great example Ed and Hawk-eye. They got so comfortable there, we stayed and lunched on jerky. Here is the look back down the hill side we climbed to get to our rock houses where we lunched. Way down there some where is the trail and creek. Nice view though. Another view of our rock faces we rested under, looking up hill now though. beautiful day to be out. Here the Wilderness Trail runs along the Thomlinsn Run Creek. Note the chunks of ice lying along the edge from the flooding last week. Today the temp was 35 degrees, but sunny and great to be out. Ed Robey (Wv COHT State Rep) makes some equipment adjustments, with his trusty trail partner Hawk-eye standing vigillant. This is Ed's brother Eric, he lives near by and came out to see his brother and enjoy the day with us. He took some great photos of us, some of wich you are enjoying here now. Thanks Eric for your contribution. One of the more massive rock faces along the lower trail. The height is deffinately 100' atleast, and 100 yards in length. Sure is pretty with that massive ice on it. Just think, most of it has melted in those few days of uncanny warm weather we had, this is what is left. Still is a pretty site though. Another shot at a differant angle of the same rock face. Yep, same rock face at a wider angle. Told you it was BIG. Here a is peak over the Tomlinson Run Creek from the lower trail. Awful pretty, mother nature at work. Same view, just differant angle. Sure wish you were here to enjoy it with us. There's a peak at the Tomlinson Run Creek below the trail. We are hoping to make it to the Ohio River and back before night fall. It is a little way down there, there goes my definition of little again. Along the trail Ed and I discussed many issues of the 18th century, as seen here on one of our breaks. I enjoy talking to Ed and sharing the trail with him, very learned individual he is. Great member to meet, look him up some time. Ole Hawk-eye letting us know we have ignored him enough, time for a pet and hit the trail again. Great experience trekking with a dog. If you have propper mind set, and the dog hits on something, you find yourself wondering - is it game or a ambush? One of the many tributaries of the Tomlinson Run Creek. There a few little water falls along the trail. Ed Robey (Wv COHT) and Hawk-eye, taking a break in one of the bountiful rock houses along the way. Here they are a little closer. Ed Robey (Wv COHT) has been the subject of a few of Andrew Knez's (frontier artist) paintings. He is honored with being the subject of this years School of the Longhunter's T-shirt and sketch. You can only get them there, hope to see you there. That's my mugg. My daughter says she does not know what a Bushwacker is, but I am the handsomest one around in her book. Time to take a break, drink some water, eat some jerky, watch mother nature about us. Ed is trying to take a quick nap in the rock house above me, but he wrestling Hawk-eye more than that. Hawk-eye smelt the jerky in his food quiver. Here is Ed Robey (COHT WV Rep), thinking Better toss ole Hawk-eye another one Ed! Having Hawk-eye about on the trek was a new experience. It was a joy actually. Here we are hitting the trail again. Hey! Slow down Hawk-eye! Wich way did he go? Wich way did he go? There he is! Isn't that a pretty site? That is the Tomlinson Run Creek. Taking a gander at a frozen rock face, from the lower returning trail. Amazing. Another beautiful view of the Tomlinson Run Creek. Mother nature is wonderful to us, when we look for it. Ed Robey (COHT WV Rep)taking a break in front of one of the frozen rock faces along the lower trail. It was a great day. Another one of the tributaries of Tomlinson Run Creek, cascading as a water falls. Some nice ice formations there as well. Hopefully you have seen that you need not travel far or spend a great deal of time in the woods to enjoy a great trek. Our adventure was in my back yard, and we where out for part of a day. We had a great time and saw some amazing sites, and had some good talks. Thanks Ed and Rick Robey, Hawk-eye for a great trek.

Ed Robey and I decided to celebrate George Washington's Birthday (Feb 22, 2004) with a nice brisk trek on the Wilderness Trail in Thomlinson Run State Park, New Manchester, West Virginia. Its off of State Route #8. Its a beautiful little park, lots of trails and things to do. We got see some great sites, and visit a few rock houses, and exercise our lungs... man it was great to get out!!
