Contributor's CommentsThis small set of photos was taken on a whim while passing through Blue Licks late one brisk wintery evening. I believe it was December 11th, the 3-month anniversary of the attack on America. I was initially planning on simply taking some shots of the spot-lighted monument, and then thought, why not do something creative? I was already wearing my outfit, having just come down the Buffalo Road from Kenton's Station on the bluffs of the Ohio River. I was in a reflective frame of mind. The solitude of Blue Licks after dark is a wonderful place to ponder sacrifice, fear, bravery, honor... The devastating August 19, 1782 loss at Blue Licks was comparable to the loss to New York City on September 11, 2001. I imagined a tribute from the Spirit of Blue Licks. I was using a digital Kodak DC 240 camera, 3X Zoom on a moderate resolution setting. I propped the camera on the steps, set the timer and ran to get in place. It took several shots to get the right angles, etc. I do have higher rez copies on request. Take care,
